"The total joint replacement of tomorrow begins with the total joint replacement research of today."

Dr. Kurtz is currently working on a computer modeling research study to look at the affects of translating the center of rotation on the range of motion of the hip and biomechanics of the hip joint during hip replacement surgery.

He is also enrolling hip replacement patients in a IRB approved research study that is evaluating Dr. Kurtz's ability to accurately return the leg to the same position as before surgery.  The pre-operative leg length and offset is compared to the post-operative leg length and offset.   Study patients are asked to fill out a Harris hip score questionnaire before surgery and a few times after surgery.  If you would like more information on the technique used, please click here.
